DESCRIPTION:
The E U P H O R I U M _ f r e a k e s t r a in it's early days already formulating an album presenting different musical styles one piece after another. For shure the focus seems to lie on an improvisatory approch to dealing with contemporary chamber music. Yet every time EUPHORIUM delivers and lives for definite auditory adventures. Here you will find music creating sounds for some delicious situations on the being of an imaginary figure called Birg Borgenthal. Listen to the ultimate narrations Friedrich Kettlitz performs to some collisions of a pair of litle but thick crotales! Besides Oliver Schwerdt you can find Beate Wein and Dorren Mende celebrating personal excursions on the keyboard of a grand piano. For the first time Schwerdt and Kettlitz sit down sharing the first step of a process that once will drive their design of an neverending electric organ drone up to the arts of Axel Dörner and Roger Turner, Urs Leimgruber and Joris Rühl, Antonin Gerbal and Hannes Lingens. But the cornerstone of these adventures arises from the encounter of Kettlitz and french chansonnier Guillaume Maupin. Both are touching the inner heart of musical being within an intense avantgardistic dialogue.

Das E U P H O R I U M _ f r e a k e s t r a, kurz bevor es mit Günter Baby Sommer und Friedrich Schenker seine ersten großen Stars der Szenen des Free Jazz und der Zeitgenössischen Musik ins Boot zu holen sich anschickte, hat mit den Abenteuern des Birg Borgenthal ein ganz intimes, kammermusikalisch improvisiertes Werk geschaffen. Noch sind fern all die atemberaubenden Saxofonisten, Schlagzeuger und Kontrabassisten, welche die späteren Reinkarnationen des Ensembles besetzen werden. Beeindruckend hier, im Dezember des Jahres 2000, ist die große stilistische Vielfalt der Darbietungen und: die Kollektivität einer Musikproduktion, die in dem visuell aufwendig gestalteten Original-Booklet ihr damalig multikünstlerisches Selbstverständnis ausweist. Nicht zuletzt setzt Friedrich Kettlitz mit einem verbalen Paukenschlag zur initialen Wölbung des Mythos‘ jener transpersonalen Figuretten des EUPHORIUMS an. Das erste Album, welches das Projektenemble in Leipzig (übrigens in einer Art Guerilla-Aktion in einem damaligen Nebengebäude der örtlichen Musikhochschule) aufgenommen hat, liegt siebzehn Jahre nach Einspielung mit einem umfangreichen Begleittext als industriell reproduzierte CD öffentlich hörbar vor!
