DESCRIPTION:
The first double album of a vast cast of an early version of the legendary E U P H O R I U M _ f r e a k e s t r a was recorded primarily in march 2001 and never officially released before the twentieth birthday of the ever renewable ensemble. In those days Oliver Schwerdt organized a recording session at the woody father’s place of an offspring of the well known noble family of the von Trott zu Solz. Most of the Eisenach based founding members of the group were getting there regaled with special guest musicians which immediately spilled out some of their best soloing of all their career and in part became central figures of then forthcoming episodes.
In general the music documented here was outstanding influential on several following projects of the rapidly developing ensemble. You can listen to these effects especially on 2007‘s Free Electric Supergroup and 2016’s Grande Casino. Despite the totally different casts performing the E U P H O R I U M _ f r e a k e st r a surprisingly sounds like itself each time. With the soundz of 2001 particularly you can listen to Gilbert Eiche, the guy who mixed and mastered most of all EUPHORIUM Records playing his tenor saxophone.

Das legendäre, um eine zentrale, 2001 realisierte Aufnahmesitzung entstandene Doppel-Album soundz offfe drzk wähuh erfährt zum 20. Geburtstag des E U P H O R I U M _ f r e a k e s t r a s seine späte offizielle Veröffentlichung. So einflussreich wie die hier dokumentierten musikalischen Erfindungen damals für die rapide Entwicklung des aus Eisenach stammenden, bereits nach Leipzig schauenden Ensembles waren, so wenige ausgewählte Menschen bekamen die CDs einst in handgemachten Kopien ausgehändigt. Jetzt wird die zwischen entspannten Grooves und hocherhitzem Virtuosentum, elektronischen Klangexperimenten und sanglich-lyrischen Themen, dadaistischen Sprachspielen und zappaesken Arrangements virulente Kreativität des jungen Ensembles allgemein. Saxofonist Hartmut Dorschner und E-Gitarrist Rudi Feuerbach laden hier zu Sternstunden ihrer künstlerischen Biografie ein. Inbesondere die Ästhetiken der Doppel- und Dreifach-Alben Free Electric Supergroup (2007) und Grande Casino (2016) zeigen mit den soundz, Klänge, welche auch die beiden frühen Filme des Ensembles, Wer nicht wagt, gerät. und Im Firmament der Schlachtsohle! entscheidend nährten, frühe Ausprägungen. Kein Wunder, dass sich Günter Baby Sommer, Friedrich Schenker und der junge Alexander Schubert einst beeindruckt von diesem frühen, doch schon meisterlichen Werk zeigten; nicht zuletzt stellte das Album die Eintrittskarte zur naTo, dem legendären Leipziger subkulturellen Spielort der Avantgarde dar, welche dem Ensemble schließlich das Recht auf eine dort bis heute andauernde Residenz verlieh.
